Message from the Athletic Director
Here at Notre Dame, we take great pride in our sports program, which has a tradition of excellence. Our athletic teams are known for their competitive standing within our sports league, the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC), which is comprised of 19 schools. Offering a variety of athletic opportunities, Notre Dame student-athletes compete in 21 sports with 36 total Modified, Junior Varsity and Varsity squads. Nearly 70 percent of our students participate on an athletic team.
Our sports program is far more than winning and losing; we offer students the opportunity to develop and enhance integrity, sportsmanship, team-building skills, self-discipline and perspective in regard to competition. Our program continues to receive sportsmanship awards recognizing the positive qualities we foster within our athletic program. We also encourage our athletes to be their best on and off the court or playing field. We pride ourselves in the philosophy that our athletes are students first. We are proud to have most of our varsity teams achieve New York State Scholar Athlete Team recognition. In the 2013-2014 school year, 13 of our teams received the NYSPHSAA Scholar/Athlete Team award.
Our coaches are experienced and, in the Mercy tradition, encourage the development of their players as hard workers, team players and respectful people. We welcome and encourage students to participate in more than one sport and to enjoy a diverse high school experience.
On behalf of the entire Notre Dame athletic family, thank you for your participation and support as we continue our great athletic tradition.
Mr. Steve Weber
